If you have read my post about the clay mask, you know obsessed I am with skin care. But I don’t just buy anything for the heck of it. I check ingredients, sourcing methods and reviews before even considering putting anything on my face.

A few years ago I came across a Canadian brand (woot woot!) Deciem and more specifically their line of no frills skin care, The Ordinary. They have everything you need in simple packaging and all of their line is cruelty free with most products being organic, vegan and ethically sourced. And the cherry on top? THE PRICE! A bottle of Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Oil will set you back $10. Yes, $10 compared to other brands that start at double that.

I have almost ever single oil, serum, mask and toner they carry. I also use some of their other lines but I will save that for another post. I hope to spotlight each of their products one post at a time so that you can decide which ones you think would work best for you.

Note to my fellow Canadians: Some of their products are not available in Canada due to stricter restrictions on formulations than the US and Europe. The way I go around it is by doing a road trip across the border and stocking up…shhhhh!

Today I am going to focus on The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

” Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) exfoliate the skin’s topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance. Beta hydroxy acids (BHA) also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. This combined 32% AHA/BHA solution offers deeper exfoliation to help fight visible blemishes and for improved skin radiance.  ”

The Ordinary

So what does that all mean? It removes the dead skin cells more effectively than just simple cleansing and exfoliating, so over time you will develop clearer skin and diminished blemishes. It is not intended for every day use. Once a week is plenty and you leave it on for a maximum of 10 minutes. There is no stinging if applied correctly, so make sure you do not have any open wounds or exposed skin! Remember, it’s an acid. Also avoid the eye area as the skin there is much too thin and sensitive.

Here I am with the peel on and with my first empty bottle! I already have another bottle ready to go…that’s how much I love this product.

The downside? Not available in Canada….ugh. So next time you are across the border make sure to pick up this guy along with all their other amazing products! (I use all of their line so I will be reviewing them in the near future so keep an eye out for the posts)

In the meantime, if you have any questions about this product or any others they carry, just send me a message and I would be more than happy to help.
